Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation
The Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program provides benefits authorized by the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA). The EEOICPA provides compensation and medical benefits to employees whose work in the nuclear weapons industry made them ill. Survivors of qualified workers may also be eligible for benefits. The Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation (DEEOIC) claims examiners must study cases, assemble case files, and collect necessary evidence from medical personnel to render a claims decision. DEEOIC needed a way to break down their policies and procedures manual, which is currently upwards of 700 pages, into digestible training content for claims examiners.
In response, Bloomsburie researched the manual and re-wrote the content in plain language, broke it up into easy-to-read modules and designed engaging and dynamic eLearning content for the claims examiners and supervisors. The eLearning modules contained animated video, audio narration, knowledge checks, and dynamic interactions.
The DEEOIC realized multiple benefits including improved comprehension, higher engagement, better retention, and reduced training time. The eLearning modules provided a consistent user experience by ensuring that all learners accessed the same clear, focused content. Each module covered a specific topic, allowing learners to progress through material at their own pace. This uniform delivery method avoids information overload and maintains clarity across different sections. Additionally, interactive elements like quizzes or knowledge checks reinforced understanding and helped create a structured learning pathway.
