The Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer at the Department of Energy (OCHCO) requested a solution to welcome new employees to the department. The Deputy CHCO had a vision for “something different” outside of an eLearning or facilitated welcome session.

In response, Bloomsburie conceptualized, designed, and developed new employee flipbooks. These interactive flipbooks contained everything a new DOE employee needed to know to effectively do their jobs. The flipbooks contained explanatory videos, narration, pop-ups, and links to a variety of external sites and were visually appealing, allowing viewers to zoom in and out on the content. Additionally, Bloomsburie created accompanying 508 Compliant versions of the flipbooks for individuals who needed an accessible version.

The new employee flipbook was a resounding hit at DOE. Once other departments saw the flipbook, their leaders requested their own individual department flipbook. Since then, Bloomsburie has designed and developed flipbooks for Bonneville Power Administration, Office of Fossil and Carbon Management, Office of Science, Office of Nuclear Energy, Environmental Management, and the Grid Deployment Office.
